Well, a reality check for the Bonnar Cup team. We knew this was going to be a tough match \u2013 Grange has a very strong side in Bonnar Cup with several of their players having played successful Simpson Cup golf over the last few years. Our boys provided a contest all day and with a little luck we could have won or halved three of the games which would have given the final scoreline a bit more respectability. It will be important now for the boys to regroup and prepare well for the next match.<\/p>\n

From early on the Grange boys took the advantage \u2013 after six holes, four matches were square with Grange leading the other three matches. Ben Layton at No. 3 and Liam Kennewell at No.4 were both 3 down at this stage \u2013 it was particularly pleasing to see both these lads stick to their task and to come back to be only 1 down after the 14th and then take their games to the 18th hole for two narrow losses.<\/p>\n

Jackson Kalz at No.7 recovered from 1 down after five and played some really nice golf to be 2 up after 13, but then lost two holes and was also 1 down playing the last \u2013 a sensational 3 wood second shot set up a birdie chance from 12 feet and a chance to get a half but his putt failed to drop and another narrow loss.<\/p>\n

James Bridgen at No. 5 also recovered from 3 down after 10 to take his match to the 17th.<\/p>\n

James Brown at No.6 recovered from 2 down after two to get back to square after four \u2013 he got back to square again on 10 after holing a 40 foot monster, but lost four of his last six holes to lose 4\/2.<\/p>\n

Mark McDonald at No.2 had a tough assignment and played steady golf to be square after 10 \u2013 a stunning birdie on 10 from two feet got him back to square \u2013 but then his opponent outplayed him on the back nine for Mark to lose 5\/3.<\/p>\n

Braeden Kelly at No.1 also had a tough opponent \u2013 Braeden kept in contention for most of his match with some nice golf \u2013 only 1 down after the 10th but his opponent was playing sub-par golf to close the match out 3\/2.<\/p>\n

Next Sunday is a critical match for us – we play Tea Tree Gully at Blackwood at 12.10pm. Tea Tree Gully is likely to be our main challenger for a Finals spot, so another must win match for the boys.<\/p>\n
