{"id":7235,"date":"2014-11-19T13:28:42","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T02:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=7235"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:44:27","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:14:27","slug":"seniors-knocked-out-in-semi-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2014\/11\/seniors-knocked-out-in-semi-final\/","title":{"rendered":"Seniors knocked out in semi-final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/Logos\/ggclogo.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/>Another tough assignment, playing Thaxted Park on their home course in a knock out Semi Final.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Denis Prider (at No. 6) for recording a solid 3\/2 win to give us the first win for the day.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Schebella (at No. 7) and Jim Rawson (at No.5) both battled valiantly all day and had their winning chances but both boys lost their tight matches on the 18th, matches that could have gone either way. Thaxted Park take a 2 to 1 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime Sandy Small (at No 4) and Wayne Humphries (at No.3) were both trying to come from behind, both players 3 down after 9. Wayne continued to struggle with too many loose shots and struggling on the tricky greens to lose on the 14th. Sandy was playing quite well and birdied the 15th hole to stay alive but his opponent maintained his solid play to win on the 16th. This now gave Thaxted Park an unbeatable 4 to 1 lead to win the contest.<\/p>\n<p>The last two games were close encounters with John Keogh (at No 2) marginally ahead in his game and Chris Whitford (at No 1) narrowly behind.
