There can be some added pressure due to the expectation of winning well at home, but pleasingly all boys kept their minds on the job and maintained a strong focus on winning their game.<\/p>\n<p>For varying reasons we had three changes to the side \u2013 with James Brown, John Noble and Marty Ardill all coming in to the team. These three guys acquitted themselves really well and made the most of their chance to all record strong wins.<\/p>\n<p>From early on it was evident we would have a big win \u2013 after seven holes we were ahead in all games. The Kooyonga Bonnar Cup side is a young team and it was very evident they were having difficulty reading our greens and missing several holeable putts. Their more experienced Glenelg opponents took full advantage to maintain the pressure and increase their lead in most games.<\/p>\n<p>Marty Ardill at No.7 was always in control. 5 up after nine, Marty went on to win 7\/5.<\/p>\n<p>John Noble at No.6 got to 3 up after six holes and maintained that lead through to the 13th, then won 14 and 15 to record a 5\/3 victory.<\/p>\n<p>James Brown at No.5 was one or two up for most of the day and won the 17the hole for a 3\/1 win.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Magi at No.4 played steady golf all day. 3 up after three, he maintained control for a comfortable 5\/4 win.<\/p>\n<p>Will Starkey at No.3 took advantage of a couple of \u201clucky\u201d shots to also win 5\/4. On the 8th, he holed a 40 foot putt for par, only for his opponent then to miss a three foot putt for birdie \u2013 hole halved! Then on the 11th, Will holes his chip shot from the left grassy hollow for birdie and another win.<\/p>\n<p>Braeden Kelly at No.2 got off to a flyer \u2013 also being 3 up after three, but full credit to his opponent who refused to give in and got back to square after 13. Braeden won 14 to go 1 up and missed a shortish putt on 16 which would have put him 2 up. Braeden was still 1 up playing the last, but lost the hole to a steady par from his opponent for a halved game.<\/p>\n<p>James McDonald at No1 played his typical strong game around Glenelg and turned 4 up after nine. After losing the 10th and 11th, he went on to win the next three holes and win his game 5\/4.<\/p>\n<p>With Tea Tree Gully losing a close match against The Vines (four games square and six games going down the 18th) we have now moved in to second place behind The Grange. The equation is now very simple \u2013 win our last 3 games and we will qualify for the final \u2013 that fate is now in our own hands and will not rely on other matches.<\/p>\n<p>Our match next Sunday is at Tea Tree Gully against Blackwood at 12.10pm from the 10th tee. This is a critical game for us to win \u2013 Blackwood will be desperate for a win which would leapfrog them ahead of us.
