{"id":6125,"date":"2014-06-03T16:12:48","date_gmt":"2014-06-03T06:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=6125"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:44:35","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:14:35","slug":"sharp-cup-start-season-with-victory-over-southern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2014\/06\/sharp-cup-start-season-with-victory-over-southern\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharp Cup start season with victory over Southern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_3096.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Liam Kennewell performed strongly to take his match 6\/4\" alt=\"Liam Kennewell performed strongly to take his match 6\/4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_3096.jpg\" width=\"530\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a>Report by Brenton Kalz (Team Manager)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Glenelg&#8217;s Sharp Cup side showed they are going to be ultra competitive in 2014 by beating the much fancied Southern Group combined team 3 matches to 2 in their opening Sharp Cup round at Kooyonga on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Tanner tee\u2019d off at number five and lead comfortably for most of the day before his opponent edged back to be even going down the last.\u00a0 Jack held his nerve to win the 18th and post our first match for the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hyoyi Pyun debuted at number four with her match swinging\u00a0 to and fro all day.\u00a0 Hyoyi found herself 2 down with three to play, but birdie opportunities at 16 and 17 were good enough to also force the match down to the 18th.\u00a0 Unfortunately this time, Southern took the hole and the match to square the contest.<\/p>\n<p>Liam Kennewell was next to finish playing solid match play golf at number two to be 4 up after nine and was never challenged, bringing home our second match with a very comfortable 6\/4 win.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson Kalz\u2019s pennant debut was equally impressive forging to a three hole lead by the turn.
