{"id":611,"date":"2012-03-28T16:20:39","date_gmt":"2012-03-28T05:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=611"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:45:01","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:15:01","slug":"vale-hc-bay-mcdonald","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2012\/03\/vale-hc-bay-mcdonald\/","title":{"rendered":"Vale HC &#8216;Bay&#8217; McDonald"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is with much sadness that Golf SA advises of the passing of HC \u2018Bay\u2019 McDonald on Monday 26th March.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bay\u2019 had a distinguished career in golf administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bay\u2019 joined the Kooyonga Golf Club in October 1951 and served as Captain and President.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to be President of the South Australian Golf Association (SAGA) between 1989 and 1994 and served a term as President of the Australian Golf Union (AGU).<\/p>\n<p>In 1992 \u2018Bay\u2019 represented the AGU in Vancouver, Canada at the Eisenhower Cup where the Australian Team of Lucas Parsons, Stephen Collins, David Armstrong and Stephen Leaney finished equal third.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/00121881-image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/00121881-image.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This photo shows &#8216;Bay&#8217; McDonald presenting current Glenelg Course Architect\u00a0Neil Crafter, with the 1992 SA Amateur Championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bay\u2019 McDonald was made a Life Member of SAGA in June 1994 for \u2018\u2026exceptional services to golf in South Australia\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBay\u2019 continued to take an active interest in golf administration and would be one of the first to respond to an invitation by Golf SA to various activities and events.
