Glenelg’s 2013 Girls’ Club Champion, Matilda Wheare, has been selected in the SA junior state side to compete in April’s National Junior Interstate Series in Victoria.<\/p>\n

The inexperienced sides will feature eight of the twelve players making their representative debuts for South Australia, including Wheare.<\/p>\n

Glenelg’s Head Teaching Professional, Gareth Jones, will coach the boys’ team.<\/p>\n

In the State Boy’s side, Echunga\u2019s Billy Cawthorne is the only returning player. The five players to make their debut are Ben Tucker (Robe), Samuel Burton (Tea Tree Gully), Peter Johns (Barmera), Lachlan Barker (Willunga) and Joel Durnford.<\/p>\n

Durnford from Booleroo Centre Golf Club, 280 km north of Adelaide in the Northern District has the honour of captaining the side.<\/p>\n

The three inclusions to the SA Girls side are Alicia Smith and Emma Sutton from The Grange Golf Club and Wheare. Returning players all from The Grange are; Cassidy Evreniadis, Ella Adams and Kristalle Blum. Alicia Smith will Captain the side.<\/p>\n

The Boys who claimed the national title in QLD in 2012, have an even mix of players.<\/p>\n

Lachlan Barker has posted some solid results recently, finishing 6th in the SA Junior Masters and 8th in the SA Junior Amateur. Barker also finished runner up in the Tasmanian Junior Masters held late January.<\/p>\n

Billy Cawthorne is also in form finishing runner up at The SA Junior Masters and placing 9th at the SA Junior Amateur.<\/p>\n

Joel Durnford claimed the final SA Junior Open of the Summer ahead of Samuel Burton and Ben Tucker.<\/p>\n

Kristalle Blum has had a fine summer, winning two Junior Opens and the Tea Tree Gully Vardon.<\/p>\n

Cassidy Evreniadis was the leading local at the SA Junior Amateur finishing 6th, followed by a 7th place result at the SA Junior Masters. Evreniadis also qualified 21st in the recent Australian Women\u2019s Amateur Championship and made it through to the last 16 in the Match Play.<\/p>\n

Ella Adams was the leading SA player at the Tasmanian Junior Masters finishing 5th.<\/p>\n

The Australian Boys’ Interstate Matches will be played from 13 – 16 April 2014 at the Heritage Golf & Country Club, VIC.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Australian Girls’ Interstate Matches will be played from 13 – 15 April 2014 at the Croydon Golf Club (Yering Meadows), VIC<\/strong><\/p>\n
