\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Report by Jack Tanner (age 12)<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Sunday, 10th November, my mum and dad and I flew with the SAPSASA primary school state team to Melbourne for the 12 and Under National Golf Championships held in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. There were teams from SA, Victoria and Queensland.<\/p>\n

The first day was at Rosebud Country Club and we played an Irish four ball. The weather was getting bad, wet and windy. The wind couldn\u2019t decide which way it was blowing. I played with three other boys Andy (NSW), Jasper (VIC) and Liam (QLD), we all got along really well and played as a team and had fun.<\/p>\n

Day 2 was played at Portsea Golf Club. This was my favourite course. The weather was really bad, very windy and raining sideways. I shot 11 over the front because I didn\u2019t have my head in the zone but by the back nine I shot four over having a round of 86 (par 71) being 15 over. In the SA group, the best score was Frank Vucic scoring 80.<\/p>\n

Day 3 was a day off playing golf so all the boys from each state caught a bus to Royal Melbourne to watch the Australian Masters. We watched the par3, 5th hole and cheered on every golfer that came past. After lunch a couple of us went and met Peter Senior and Vijay Singh and got their signatures. After that we went to the practice range and met up with Adrian Wickstein who was caddying for Peter Cooke and he gave us a signed ball.<\/p>\n

Day 4 was back at Rosebud. I played a good first eight holes shooting six over, messed up the 9th after hitting it into the tress and had a nine on a par 5 but then came back and parred the next four holes. I ended up shooting a 89 (17 over). After it was all over we had the closing ceremony and presentations. South Australia won the net overall so we all got an umbrella, medal and sleeve of balls. Single\u2019s were up next and I won the net overall for the first day and I was so happy with myself. I also found out my handicap had dropped! Everything was so much fun that week and I was really sad when it came to the end.<\/p>\n

I had a great week representing the State with the seven other boys and four girls and we became good friends. I would like to thank the Glenelg Golf Club Foundation and everyone involved with the Club’s Junior Program for their support.<\/p>\n

The Club is committed to the ongoing support and encouragement of Junior Golf and as a result, the Glenelg Golf Club Foundation provided funding assistance to Liam to compete in this event in New South Wales.<\/p>\n

Through the Glenelg Golf Club Foundation, we have identified Junior Golf as one of our key areas of importance. As a result, the Club has focused on funding the ongoing development, training and promotion of Junior golf with proceeds raised through the Foundation.<\/p>\n

This results in an outstanding, fully funded Junior Development Program at Glenelg Golf Club.<\/p>\n
