{"id":30006,"date":"2021-06-22T15:06:01","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T05:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=30006"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:42:35","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:12:35","slug":"course-tips-dropping-zone-no-play-zone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2021\/06\/course-tips-dropping-zone-no-play-zone\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Tips | Dropping Zone | No Play Zone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">labelled blue stake<\/span><\/strong> indicates a designated point of relief from an immovable obstruction <strong>or<\/strong> no play zone <strong>or<\/strong> other abnormal course condition (such as GUR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a dropping stake is present your ball <strong>must<\/strong> be dropped, not nearer to the hole, within one club-length of the stake <strong>nearest to the point where the ball last crossed the margin<\/strong> of the obstruction <strong>or<\/strong> no play zone <strong>or<\/strong> other abnormal course condition, <strong>even if that stake is closer to the hole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you take relief at a dropping stake there is no penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A dropped ball which comes to rest more than one club-length from the stake must be re-dropped and if the re-dropped ball finishes more than one club-length from the stake, the ball must be placed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28258\" width=\"372\" height=\"267\"\/><figcaption>12<sup>th<\/sup> fairway \u2013 samphire protected area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No Play Zone (NPZ)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your ball comes to rest in an area marked by <strong>black lines and stakes<\/strong> you <strong>must not<\/strong> play it as it lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">blue stake<\/span><\/strong> is present \u2013 as is the case with the NPZs on the 12th fairway, for example \u2013 you <strong>must<\/strong> drop your ball within one club-length of that stake, no nearer to the hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">more than one blue stake<\/span><\/strong> is present \u2013 as is the case with the Western carpark when playing from the 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 7<sup>th<\/sup> tees, 19th Hole renovations, and between the 17<sup>th<\/sup> fairway and 16<sup>th<\/sup> green \u2013 you <strong>must<\/strong> drop your ball within one club-length of the <strong>nearest stake to the point where your ball last entered the no play zone, even if the stake is closer to the hole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>no blue stake<\/strong> <\/span>present you <strong>must<\/strong> drop your ball in a one club-length relief area measured from the nearest point from which the ball lies which provides you with <strong>complete relief<\/strong> from interference by the zone to both the lie of your ball and your stance.
