{"id":26042,"date":"2015-09-28T15:57:48","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T06:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=9740"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:44:14","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:14:14","slug":"barker-earl-lead-following-1st-round-of-sa-amateur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2015\/09\/barker-earl-lead-following-1st-round-of-sa-amateur\/","title":{"rendered":"Barker, Earl lead following 1st round of SA Amateur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/MG_0653.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9097\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/MG_0653.jpg\" alt=\"Glenelg's Lachlan Barker\" width=\"530\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Glenelg&#8217;s Lachlan Barker and Sam Earl join The Grange&#8217;s Jack Williams and Mt Gambier&#8217;s Daryl Morgan at the top of the leaderboard after round 1 of the SA Amateur Championships played at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club today.<\/p>\n<p>Both Barker and Earl fired even par rounds of 71 to join the leaders group by one shot from Kooyonga&#8217;s Tim Baker and Flagstaff Hill&#8217;s Scott Ready.\u00a0 Earl&#8217;s round was near flawless and included two birdies and two bogeys.\u00a0 Barker&#8217;s round started with a shaky double at the par 3 3rd hole followed by a bogey at the 4th, however he fought back strongly to finish 2-under over the closing 14 holes.<\/p>\n<p>15-year old Jackson Kalz was the next best placed Glenelg member, firing a 3-over par 74.\u00a0 Kalz continues his strong form following a third place finish in the under 16 section of the Victorian Junior Amateur Championship last week.\u00a0 Tea Tree Gully&#8217;s Sam Burton, who has also just recently joined Glenelg, was a further shot back on 75, with Colin Coleman, Ben Layton and Josh Hayes all another shot back at 4-over.<\/p>\n<p>In the Women&#8217;s Amateur, Jenny Lee is in a tie for 2nd place following a 1-over par 73, behind Stephanie Bunque from Victoria Golf Club.\u00a0 Lee had an up and down round with two birdies and three bogies.\u00a0 Elysia Yap fired a 6-over 78 to be in a tie for 9th position, whilst Emma Sutton shot a 10-over 82 and Deb Christie finished a further 2 shots back on 84.<\/p>\n<p>The second qualifying round of the SA Amateur Championships will be played at The Grange Golf Club tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"highlight\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.golfsa.com.au\/event-display\/golf-sa-amateur-championship\/8094\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for the SA Amateur tournament page on the Golf SA website<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glenelg&#8217;s Lachlan Barker and Sam Earl join The Grange&#8217;s Jack Williams and Mt Gambier&#8217;s Daryl Morgan at the top of the leaderboard after round 1 of the SA Amateur Championships played at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":9097,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[15],"tags":[72,45,340,178,412,377],"class_list":["post-26042","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-guests-news","tag-golf-sa-events","tag-jenny-lee","tag-lachlan-barker","tag-sa-amateur","tag-sa-medal","tag-sam-earl"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
