\"\"<\/a>Nathan Holman from Woodlands Golf Club and Charlotte Thomas from the Singapore Island Golf Club are the newly crowned Victorian Amateur Champions after their terrific wins at the Commonwealth Golf Club today.<\/p>\n

Holman led from start to finish in defeating Troy Moses from the Glenelg Golf Club 9 and 7.<\/p>\n

Holman had got off to a flying start with birdies at the second and third holes putting him 3 up after 3 holes.<\/p>\n

Moses pegged back a hole at the fourth and another at the seventh with a fine birdie 2 to get back to one behind.<\/p>\n

Holman replied with birdies at the eighth and tenth to get back to 3 up before an inexplicable bogey at the long 12th hole reduced his lead back to 2.<\/p>\n

Both players enjoyed the 13th hole but a birdie from Moses was not good enough with a Holman eagle extending his lead back to 3.<\/p>\n

Moses made a nice birdie at 16 and despite shooting an even par morning round was still 2 holes down at lunch.<\/p>\n

The afternoon was all one way traffic with Holman winning many holes with birdies and Moses not able to respond.<\/p>\n

Holman was thrilled to win the Championship as he badly wanted to see his name alongside some of the great names etched on the trophy including Mike Clayton who he had played golf with recently. As a proud Victorian it had been his goal for some time and after winning the Riversdale Cup earlier this year Holman was keen to back up that win in another prestigious national event.<\/p>\n

Despite only average scores in the qualifying rounds Holman was happy with his ball striking and after attending a National Squad camp with his coaches last week he was confident that he was on the right track and results were just around the corner.<\/p>\n

The key to his matchplay wins he believes was that he did not give away many holes, making a lot of pars along the way.<\/p>\n
