Wow! Pennant Golf will always surprise! As expected the Glenelg Bonnar team was too strong for The Vines and recorded a comfortable win.<\/p>\n

However, a surprise loss by Tea Tree Gully against Blackwood and a shock loss by Kooyonga against North Adelaide has us back in contention \u2013 with one round to play, we are back in second spot. Our destiny is now in our own hands, the equation is simple \u2013 beat Grange at Grange this week and we get to play them again the following week in the Final, again at Grange!<\/p>\n

For most of the day all 7 Glenelg players were leading in their matches and a 7 nil result looked possible.<\/p>\n

Jack Buchanan<\/strong> playing at No. 7 hit some superb approach shots and was far too steady for his opponent and recorded a convincing 6 and 5 win.<\/p>\n

Liam Kennewell<\/strong> at No. 6 also played very steady golf with some lovely touch around the greens to win his match 5 and 4.<\/p>\n

Luke Bashford<\/strong> at No. 5 got off to a flyer \u2013 5up after 5, but his opponent steadied a little to win a couple of holes to narrow the margin, but, as Luke will admit \u201cthe golf wasn\u2019t pretty\u201d but Luke did enough to win 4 and 3.<\/p>\n

Sam Raschella<\/strong> at No. 4 had the tightest match throughout the day – he was mainly 1 up or square for most of the day. A miraculous win on the 16th (the par 3, 7th hole \u2013 ask Sam about that one!) and a nice up and down on the last hole (the 9th) for a win resulted in a 1 up win for Sam in a very tight match.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Andy Humphries<\/strong> at No. 3 had a tough start to his match \u2013 both players birdied the first 2 holes (the 10th and 11th) to set up a competitive game. However, Andy played really steady golf to wear his opponent down and gradually gain the ascendancy to win his game 3 and 2.<\/p>\n

Henry Duregon<\/strong> at No. 2 continued his unbeaten record this season. He played some really nice approach shots and got out to a 3 up lead after 8 and pretty much maintained that advantage to win 3 and 1.<\/p>\n

At No. 1 Brodie Whitbread<\/strong> was too strong on a solid front 9 to be under the card and 4 up \u2013 but the game turned on the back 9. His seasoned opponent played par golf with some marvellous up and downs for Brodie to be 1 down playing the last. On the last (the 9th hole) his opponent once again chipped to gimme distance, leaving Brodie needing to hole a slippery side hill putt from 8 feet to halve the game. Brodie calmly slotted the putt to salvage the half.<\/p>\n

Thank you again to all the caddies and parents who came out to support the boys.<\/p>\n

Next Sunday we play against The Grange at Grange East from 9.30 am. As previously mentioned, just 4 wins in this match will get us a Finals berth and the chance to do it all again!<\/p>\n
