{"id":13393,"date":"2016-06-08T09:30:15","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T00:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/?p=13393"},"modified":"2023-06-20T15:44:02","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:14:02","slug":"sanderson-cup-team-halve-blackwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/2016\/06\/sanderson-cup-team-halve-blackwood\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanderson Cup team halve Blackwood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/MG_1451.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-13397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glenelggolf.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/MG_1451.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"361\" \/><\/a><strong>Report by Cathy Johnson (Team Manager)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Sanderson Cup match against Blackwood, on their home course, was delayed due to cloud, fog and greens under water \u2013 and concluded with a 2.5 &#8211; 2.5 result.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jill Hodge<\/strong>, our veteran, led the team out at number 5 this week and despite a slow start got the job done well, winning 6\/4.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charley Jacobs<\/strong>, at number 4, made a return to the team after a win in the Golf SA Junior Sand Greens at Tumby Bay last week. Charley had a small 2 up lead early but her experienced Blackwood opponent was able to peg that back and the match was halved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matilda Wheare<\/strong>, at number 3, made a welcome return to A1 after all of 2015 off with an elbow injury. Tilly was 2 up after 13 but her lack of match practice probably showed and she lost 3 holes in a row to be one down heading down 17. She had a miraculous par on 17 to stay in the match \u2013 a drive behind a tree, her second hit the tree and fell just short of a bunker and a fantastic 3rd to about \u00bd metre. Unfortunately she could only halve the last to lose 1 down against an opponent who parred the back 9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Crocker<\/strong> took the number 2 spot this week \u2013 and delivered! Sarah was 6 up and 3 under the card after 9 and closed the match out 9\/7. She remains undefeated!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elysia Yap<\/strong>, at number 1 had another difficult assignment against a determined opponent who despite being under trees, behind trees and through greens found a way to continually make par. Despite a wonderful birdie on 10 and Chris Crocker taking on caddying duties the task was too much.
