In cold, bleak conditions early at North Adelaide, it was game on from the very first tee shot. Both Glenelg and Kooyonga were fielding strong teams and there was the expectation of a very tight contest \u2013 and so it turned out.<\/p>\n

The Kooyonga boys, to their credit, played some outstanding golf and whilst our boys generally played well, it was not our day.<\/p>\n

After 7 holes, Kooyonga held a slight advantage with five of the games being either square or just one hole the difference. The Kooyonga team continued their solid golf and maintained their advantage through the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Frank Vucic<\/strong> playing at No.7 was 1 down after seven, still just the 1 down after twelve, but could not withstand his opponent\u2019s strong finish to their game to lose 4\/2.<\/p>\n

Jack Buchanan<\/strong> at No.6 struggled to match the \u201chot\u201d golf from his very steady opponent and lost his game 6\/5.<\/p>\n

Luke Bashford<\/strong> at No 5 was also 1 down after seven, but lost three of the next five holes to be 4 down after twelve, but stuck to the task to be 3 down playing 16, but lost that hole to lose his game 4\/2.<\/p>\n

Brodie Whitbread<\/strong> at No.4 got off to a flying start in a match that promised to be a beauty between two very talented youngsters. Brodie played par golf to be 4 up after seven and maintained that advantage after twelve \u2013 then the fireworks started \u2013 his opponent birdied three of the next five holes to square the game playing the last. Both boys made miracle pars up the last for the game to finish all square. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Sam Raschella<\/strong> at No. 3 maintained his winning form for this season. It was a close game all day with Sam 1 down after six, but turning that around to be 1 up after twelve and then going 2 up after 14 \u2013 but an eagle 3 from his opponent on 15 reduced his lead back to 1 up with three to play. The game tightened further when Sam lost 16 and halved 17 to go down 18 all square. On 18, Sam had a solid par to win his game 1 up \u2013 great effort again Sam.<\/p>\n

Henry Duregon<\/strong> at No. 2 played steady golf all day \u2013 he turned 1 up after nine and then won four of the next six holes to record a 5\/3 win \u2013 good job, Henry.<\/p>\n

At No.1 Andy Humphries<\/strong> had a tight battle early turning 1 down after nine but his opponent just kept holing putts and didn\u2019t allow Andy to get back in to the game with Andy going down 4\/3.<\/p>\n

So a disappointing result against another team with similar aspirations to make the Final. We now have four teams in strong contention to make the Final \u2013 so every match form here on in is critical.<\/p>\n

Thank you again to all the caddies, parents and a handful of club members who came out to watch and support the boys. It was greatly appreciated in the cold and wintery conditions.<\/p>\n

Next Sunday we have a bye for the June long weekend. Our next match will be on Sunday 19th June against Tea Tree Gully at The Vines from 12.10pm \u2013 this will be a mini Final – TTG are on the same win level as us \u2013 a MUST Win game.<\/p>\n
