Many members would have seen the recent works completed\u00a0at our Maintenance Facility over the last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This work forms stage one of our short-term Maintenance Facility upgrade program designed to meet legislative requirements in OHS&W and Environmental Management.\u00a0 The works have\u00a0included the installation of an additional building to improve and enlarge staff amenities, with the existing lunch room converted into a Course Operations Office. By carrying out this work, it has allowed for the internal office area within the shed to be removed for increased undercover storage space for machinery and equipment.<\/p>\n

Funds were set aside in the 2012 Budget for works in this area and the Committee of Management made this work a priority to ensure we meet minimum OHS&W and environmental standards. Other infrastructure works including irrigation upgrades and machinery replacements have been deferred to accommodate these important works.\u00a0 The total project cost was just over $100k, with the new Ausco portable building purchased by the Club.<\/p>\n

Careful consideration took place with all aspects of the work to ensure funds could be recouped in the future once a decision is made on a new Maintenance Facility.\u00a0 This includes the option of on-selling the new building or reusing it in any future upgrades.\u00a0 However, we do not anticipate any work on a new\u00a0Maintenance Facility\u00a0taking place in the short term given the Club’s ongoing debt reduction program.<\/p>\n

The Club has an obligation under Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare legislation to meet requirements for staff amenities and safety, and we currently meet only some of these standards. Even with an extensive OHS&W program to address these issues on an ongoing basis, the Committee of Management no longer wish to risk our Course Maintenance operations by failing to meet mininum requirements.\u00a0These recent works have ensured the Club continues to meet its obligations under the various legislative requirements, and we will be working on further short-term upgrades for this to continue.<\/p>\n
