This year\u2019s McMillan Shield squad included the following Glenelg juniors: Josh Gumm, Austin Baker, Jack Dwyer, Harry Edwards, Shakira Kuys, Calvin Perks, Mitch Ward, Tom Rundle, Will Darker, Lachlan Redden, Lachlan Roberts, Lachlan Murphy and Will Edwards.<\/p>\n

The team didn\u2019t lose a match winning 1 and drawing 4 (one round cancelled due to heat policy and each team having a bye).<\/p>\n

Glenelg had a strong team and with lower handicaps were regularly having to concede quite a few strokes to their opponents. With club pride on the line, many a match came down to the last pairing (no pressure!). It gave players an idea of a \u201cgallery\u201d following with team mates following and supporting once their games were finished.<\/p>\n

It was very pleasing to see squad members who were not listed to play caddy for team mates. All were a credit to the club.<\/p>\n

Special thanks to parents and in particular the country parents for making the long same day round trips (including walking the 18 holes). Lucky the \u201chole\u201d incentives included the caddies and kept their sugar levels up and well hydrated!<\/p>\n

All bodes well for the future of Glenelg\u2019s junior teams with more juniors looking to join the McMillian Shield squad and the more senior juniors moving up to the next level pennant competitions.<\/p>\n

From the parents and squad members, a big thank you to the club for the support it provides. It is appreciated.<\/p>\n
