Glenelg vs Kooyonga at Kooyonga Golf Club<\/strong><\/p>\n

Glenelg 2 lost to Kooyonga 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kooyonga at Kooyonga was always going to be a tough challenge.\u00a0The team in general performed well on the day, eventually going down 3\/2. Finals now seem a long way from our grasp with Glenelg relying on results out of our control. As we know anything can happen in pennant golf and we will keep pushing right to the end. To see the boys after the match hurting inside shows me this group is developing the culture we require to win in the future.<\/p>\n

Mitch Taht \u2013 Mitch started extremely well in his match, but sustained pressure finally wore Mitch down and once on top Mitch\u2019s opponent finished the game quickly. Finally going down 5\/4.<\/p>\n

Braeden Kelly \u2013 Braeden has developed into an outstanding junior pennant representative. His no fuss approach to his matches is a credit to him. Braeden\u2019s match was in the balance after 14 holes but the match turned with wins on 14, 15, 16 and 17, what a finish. All members of the squad need to take notice of Braeden\u2019s approach to representing the club. Braeden won his match 2\/1.<\/p>\n

Jack Hynes \u2013 What an outstanding effort, from the first hole Jack forced his opponent to go for shots he was not comfortable playing. Before the match we asked all players to find a way to stay in the match and the pressure Jack was able to put on his opponent was a credit to Jack\u2019s skill level. Jack finally won 6\/4.<\/p>\n

Todd Williams \u2013 Todd struggled to keep up the pace of his opponent early in the match, finding it hard to combat the constant pressure placed on his game. Todd did manage to battle hard through the middle of the match, however the game was lost in the early holes, finally going down 3\/2.<\/p>\n

Haydn Booth \u2013 Haydn\u2019s match was the decider and both boys struggled to hold a lead at any stage of the match, late in the match Haydn\u2019s opponent won a few holes and was 2 up with 2 to play, Haydn needed to dig deep and extended the match to the 18th<\/sup>. Unfortunately Haydn\u2019s ten foot putt to win the 18th<\/sup> sat on the edge, game over 1 down.<\/p>\n

Thank you to the various supporters for attending in bleak conditions.\u00a0It was an honour for the boys to have\u00a0two past captains (Chris Whitford & Jim Johnson) and our current captain (Tony Martin) in attendance.
