Dear Members,


Apologies for the increasing rate of communications, however we feel it is important to keep Members up to date on the constantly evolving changes we are all facing in relation to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

This afternoon we received new advice regarding golf operations in South Australia. The rules for SA come from SAPOL, The Office of Recreation, Sport & Racing and The Office of Liquor & Gaming through Clubs SA. It notes “Your clubhouse must be closed and there should be no food and beverage service at the club, whatsoever. The pro shop can remain open, but must not be used as a place of social gathering under any circumstance. Your club should be operating on a members-only basis.”

Given the latest changes I advise that the following items have been updated since my letter yesterday and are effective immediately. 



  • There will not be any food or beverage available from the 1st and 10th Tee Huts
  • There will not be any takeaway food available   
  • Water, etc. will only be available from the Pro Shop
  • Drink machine at the 10th tee will be available. Please use tissue or similar to press buttons.



  • No visitors or guests allowed on course. Strictly Members only, effective immediately.


I remind Members that if you have travelled from interstate since the Premiers announcement regarding travel in SA, you should avoid the Club and self-isolate for a 14-day period. More information can be found on the SA Health website by clicking here.

It should be noted that the vast majority of Members may continue to visit Glenelg Golf Club and enjoy our amazing golf course. Golfers should exhibit a heightened awareness of personal hygiene as has been encouraged by state and federal health departments. By its nature, golf promotes a level of social distancing and while it is important that this is adhered to, golf is a lower risk sport than many others.

I would like to reiterate that the health and wellbeing of our Members, staff and guests is of paramount importance. In saying this, the Golf Club may be the main or only source of social activity for some Members. Keeping in mind that many people have chosen to self-isolate, I encourage you all to make contact with your fellow Members/friends. Check in to see how they are doing and let that Glenelg Golf Club culture of comradery shine through these unprecedented times. We will get through this together!
