Glenelg Golf Club, in conjunction with Golf Australia, has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 SA Amateur Classic & Rene Erichsen Salver which was due to be held 16th – 20th March.
The health and well-being of all involved is of paramount importance.
In recent days there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) at a local school. Whilst there is no evidence of any cases of the virus within the Club membership, there is an obvious risk of potential transmission. The rapid increase of reported cases does not provide any assurance that any club venue is not at risk.
Another consideration that has contributed to this decision being made is elevated risk of the virus being transmitted as a result of the level of interstate travel amongst the playing group.
We would like to reiterate that the general safety and welfare of Glenelg Golf Club Members and staff, as well as players and officials is our highest priority.
The Glenelg Golf Club will open for play next week as per any normal week. An update in relation to golf bookings will be available shortly.
