Glenelg to host 2018 Women’s Interstate Series

The series is a round robin match play tournament featuring the best six players from New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.  At the conclusion of the round robin matches, the teams finishing in the top two positions will do battle for the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup.

Glenelg’s Sarah Crocker, Charley Jacobs and Elysia Yap all featured in the 2017 team (pictured above) and alongside Josie Gale, Shakira Kuys and Matilda Wheare are likely to be considered for selection in the 2018 team.

Glenelg Golf Club has previously hosted the Women’s Interstate Series in 1962, 1979 and most recently in 1992.

The Men’s Interstate Series will be played on the East Course of The Grange Golf Club.  The men also play a round robin tournament but teams have eight players and the Northern Territory also compete.

In 2018, Harry Burner, Sam Burton, Josh Hayes, Jackson Kalz, Ben Layton and Frank Vucic will undoubtedly feature in selection talks.  Lachlan Barker, having moved to the US on a College Scholarship, will be unavailable for selection in 2018 as will Sam Earl.

Victoria is the defending champion in both the men’s and women’s championship.
